Bollywood singer Sadhana Sargam visits Markham

Toronto Indian Youth Cultural Association presented a spectacular community event on October 3, 2015 with Bollywood singer Sadhana Sargam in a live musical show.

Sadhana Sargam is India's most talented and versatile singer, recipient of the National Film Award and Filmfare Awards South, awarded several times as the best female playback singer, sings in over 34 languages, released over 50 popular Indian film songs, and conitnues to work with Bollywood’s greatest music directors. Sadhana has to her credit the first International Chinese Project, an oriental venture, ‘Warriors of Heaven and Earth' in which she has sung the song composed by international artist A.R. Rahman.

(TIYCA) provides a platform to empower youth to appreciate the arts, unite local and international artists, and cultivate the Indian cultural heritage as it relates to global cultural traditions. This year’s show featured musicians Zubin Shah, Bijoy Chakraborty, Andrew Kay Percussion, Raphael-Brown Cellist, Sarah Thawer Drummer and Mehboob Orchestra. Emcees were CINA radio’s Parul Kundra, and local youth Srijeet Chaudhuri and Maharshi Jani. Our TIYCA youth shared the stage with these great artists, classical dances were choreographed by Vrinda Bhagwat and India’s Tapash Debnath.

Special invited guests, Markham Regional Councillor Joe Li and Mr. Amar Erry of Markham's Vedic Cultural Centre, were recognized for their continous support for TIYCA youths and organizers for the past several years. Toronto Indian Youth Cultural Association executives John Neogi, Neera Chakravorty, and Kajal Chowdhury sincerely thank the sponsors, performers, volunteers, and community for their generous support.
